WTT Champions Macao 2026 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group – second day concludes

MACAU, September 9 - WTT Champions Macao 2026 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, World Table Tennis (WTT) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, continued the first round of matches today (9 September) at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. Multiple round-of-32 matches were played on the second day of the tournament.

In the women's singles, China’s Kuai Man faced Germany's Han Ying. After Kuai won the first game, Han seized control with her heavy spin and sharp changes of pace to win the next two. Kuai levelled the match in the fourth game, but costly errors in the decider handed her a 2-3 defeat (11-6, 8-11, 3-11, 12-10, 6-11). Kuai’s compatriot Wang Yidi also failed to advance after losing to Egypt’s Dina Meshref 1-3 (7-11, 7-11, 11-9, 7-11).

In the men's singles, China's Huang Youzheng took on Kanak Jha of the U.S.A. After dropping the first two games, Huang rallied to level the match, but he could not sustain his momentum and eventually lost 2-3 (7-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 6-11). Meanwhile, third seed Truls Moregard of Sweden came back from two games down to claim a 3-2 victory against Germany’s Patrick Franziska (5-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-9).

The remaining round-of-32 matches will conclude tomorrow (10 September), with China’s Zhou Qihao and Chen Xingtong facing Germany’s Dang Qiu and Nina Mittelham, respectively. The round-of-16 matches will commence after the round-of-32 is completed, including Brazil’s Hugo Calderano against Croatia’s Tomislav Pucar, while Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto and Miwa Harimoto will take on Denmark’s Anders Lind and Wales’ Anna Hursey, respectively.

Tickets for the event continue to be on sale. Members of the public may purchase tickets via the Damai mobile app and mini program, or the MacauTicket.com website and mobile app. Each person may buy a maximum of six tickets per transaction. Every spectator who is 1.2 meters or taller must present a valid ticket for admission. Children shorter than 1.2 meters who do not occupy a seat may enter the venue free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult; each adult may bring only one child with free admission. The event organizers call on interested residents and visitors to purchase tickets through authorized channels. Reselling tickets at inflated prices is prohibited.

To promote community economic development and foster the cross-sector integration of “sports + tourism,” the “Ticket Perks x WTT Macao Champions 2026” campaign is being held during the tournament. Spectators holding valid event tickets may visit the tourist information counters at six Macao boundary checkpoints, designated booths at the tournament venue, or the ZAPE Spending Carnival from 7 to 13 September, and present their tickets to on-site staff to scan a QR code and receive three discount vouchers totaling MOP 150. Each spectator may claim the vouchers up to three times during the event period. The vouchers can be used at around 500 designated shops in ZAPE. Additionally, spectators who present their tickets and spend at least MOP 150 in ZAPE can enter a lucky draw for a signed racket by professional athletes. Furthermore, free shuttle buses will be arranged to transport spectators between the tournament venue and ZAPE, channeling visitors into the local community, thereby amplifying the economic benefits of this major sporting event for medium and small enterprises in the district.

The “Ticket Perks” campaign is also held in collaboration with the “ZAPE Cultural and Sports Spending Carnival – WTT Pop-Up Shopping District” activity, which features themed photo installations, interactive experience zones, and game booths. On-site spending lucky draws are also available: residents and visitors who spend at least MOP 50 at shops in ZAPE, participate in on-site game booths, or complete designated check-in tasks at the activity venue can present their receipts or check-in proofs to receive one lucky draw chance (limited daily). Prizes include commemorative souvenirs, instant discount vouchers, and tickets to the Macau Grand Prix Museum, among others. To further enhance the vibrant tournament atmosphere and enrich the diverse experiences of residents and tourists, the organizers have set up table tennis-themed activities at the “Art Everywhere – Cultural Vibes at the Weekend” at Anim’Arte NAM VAN from 4 to 6 September and 11 to 13 September. The venue features a table tennis interactive experience zone, a themed photo area, and fun interactive games suitable for family participation, extending the table tennis craze from the competition venue into the community. This allows residents and tourists to experience the unique charm of table tennis and to create a lively and joyful event atmosphere.
