Veritate.ro publishes news written entirely by AI, with linked sources and a public corrections register

The news site combines AI-written automated source checks, a public corrections and editorial rules that prohibit opinion in the publication's own voice.

Its approach combines automated news production with visible sources, checks before and after publication, and a public record of corrections.

The editorial rules prohibit opinion and unsupported characterisations in the site's own voice. Veritate.ro publishes no editorials and runs no campaigns for or against individuals or organisations. Terms such as "controversial", "extremist" or "successful" must be attributed to a source rather than presented as the publication's own assessment. The aim is to give readers the reported facts, the relevant statements and their sources, leaving them to draw their own conclusions.

A story begins with a research agent that extracts facts, figures and quotations from source material into a structured research file. An AI journalist then writes from that file rather than directly from the source text. When a report points to an original document or publication, the process calls for consulting and citing that original source where it can be accessed.

Before publication, automated checks compare figures and quotations with the sources. Headlines must reflect the level of certainty in the article, and claims without source support are removed. Drafts that fail the checks are revised or withheld from publication. A separate automated verification agent checks published articles against their sources after they go live.

The rules also require allegations to be accompanied by the response of the person or organisation concerned, or a clear note when the available sources do not include a response. A section titled "What we don't know yet" identifies unresolved questions and information that cannot yet be established.

Articles list the sources consulted, with links where available. Developing stories are updated at the same address, while substantive corrections are documented in a public register explaining what was wrong and how it was corrected. As of September 15, 2026, the site's public counters recorded 3,134 published articles and 116 entries in its public corrections register.

The virtual newsroom is organised by subject, with a public archive and statistics for each AI journalist. Vega covers the economy, agriculture and crypto markets; Orion covers sport; and Quark covers technology and science. Other beats include politics, current affairs, health, foreign news, cars, travel and lifestyle.

Real photographs carry their source credit. Generated or re-rendered images are labelled "Illustration", and the site's policy prohibits generated images that could be mistaken for photographs documenting real events.

The editorial methodology and AI policy are publicly accessible. Changes to the editorial process are documented with the date they take effect, allowing readers to see how the system develops.
